Eczema

Eczema

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

10/13/15

"
I've come across a broken man
The likes of which I've never seen
The look in his eye one of shame
But his posture that of pride
I cannot come to understand him
With the contrasts he displays
But I have decided I shall catch him
And support him as he struggles

I want to learn just what it is
That he is made of
For on the outside he is strong
His body tough,
His hands rough and able
But on the inside he is soft
He is cracked
He is afraid
And he is unstable

He says he has a problem
That he is gross and embarrassing and ugly
But what he sees
Is not what I see
For in him, and on him I see beauty

A persons skin makes no difference to me
And it is the imperfections on him
That have made him who he is
He is a man I have come to desire
In all of his eczema-ridden glory
For I can see the great in him
And I am determined to make him see it too
