Struggle

Struggle

A Poem by Riley Bray

"
I know by the look in your eyes
That you do not care
That the chaos that surrounds us
Is meaningless to you
While others struggle
You remain huddled in your privilege
Unable to see the power you possess
But perhaps, instead, you are merely unwilling
Veiled in a soldiers guise
Which I believe has fooled even you

You think a hero means
Brawn over brains
Action over intellect
And thus that is why
I am sure you do not see it
There are wars being waged
On more than just a physical front
It takes a real warrior
To fight something they cannot see
Even more so when they fail
To recognize the threat at all

But fear not
For I will cure you of your ignorance
And together we will wash away
The blood of the oppressed
You may have never noticed
Perhaps you never tried
But I will be your teacher
I will show you
How to truly be strong
