Jesus Wept

(this was inspired after watching an interview of westboro baptist people talking continual trash about everything and anything. Is a consideration of the faith from that perspective.)

Jesus wept

For we are all idiots

Swimming about our own feces

And calling it bliss

 

We lay our burdens aside

And pretend our neighbor is the only real sinner

That god loves us

All the more because we surgically specify what is wrong

In everyone else

 

Forgive them

For they know what they do

Thank you for your comment. The poem came from watching a talk show where these individuals said 'his love for you' (speaking of the host) 'is actually hate, you people don't know it yet.' Which then had me thinking that 'they know what they do' is more apt, as perhaps the murderers of Jesus might not have known, but these individuals (eg. westboro baptists) do know and yet regardless basic reason continue to hold as the lowest common denominators, thus the play on the phrase.
