the day the world went away.

the day the world went away.

A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

the day the world went away

a frequency slipped its groove

and my whole self paused

listening

to a blaring silence

a roaring, deafening

complete stilling of my heart

silence

as i went out in search of

what went missing

i found myself stumbling blindly

through a dark morass

where once your light

was the only lodestone needed

to guide my way back home

each of my senses keenly attuned

waiting

for any shift in warmth

any waft of scent

to indicate your presence

and now

i'm left

with the gapingly

barren

sensation

that you're just

not there

at all
