Baby

Baby

A Poem by jessfoundwonder

We can't live in fractions, fish can't swim in the rain.
If every voice moved you, we'd all be the same
Shake your fist, clap your hands, and pretend to feel
But everyone knows that none of it's real

Count the hairs on your pillow that never were yours
Like a glass case, you're locked in, flat broke and a w***e
You sing the songs of the choir, but sleep with a lie
Only the spiders and rats have seen you cry

But open a pen, and search for your heart, dear
It's callused and fenced in, but I know it still lives here
Untangle the wires that lead in through the window
Shift from metal to flesh, machines never grow
