A Poem by jessfoundwonder

Sleep steals my attention, and I lay for awhile
And at 4 in the morning, nothing's dark as your smile
Matter is fact, but your matters aren't true
I've got this pillow, but I really want you

You're too wonderful to lack jealous enemies
But my heart and eyes are fixed on everything I see
I don't know how I got here, or where I am for sure
I can't stand the way that everything is blurred

Sleep and time and circumstance are out of my control
Or is it fate that spins us, we'll never really know
I hate the speed of summer, and its cracked and broken shell
Keeping me from all the things that only you can sell

But whatever stupid metaphor they use on you today
I hope it never measures up to what my fingers seem to say
I've always been a skeptic, and I thought that lovers lied
But you're so much more incredible than anything i've ever tried

This is really excellent- I love the meter, and the word choice matches phenomenally. I especially love the lines:

"I hate the speed of summer, and its cracked and broken shell
Keeping me from all the things that only you can sell"

I look forward to reading some more of your work!
