Ahhhh, I'm gonna be acting like Peter Griffin from family guy all day now with that song stuck in my head. :)
I shall be singing and dancing for hours now, which is no bad hing, but I pity anyone who knocks on my door, I will answer it with "Have you heard the word?" :)

I think you are being hard on yourself, it is much harder to write light-hearted and humor's poetry because they are not so close as to invoke one's passions when writing them. As for getting better, that should not be a concern, I have written at least a thousand poems in my life and only a fraction of them are what I would call good. What should be on your thoughts is how liberated your writing makes you feel. Let your work take you where it will and along the way inspiration will drop some greatness in your lap from time to time. And when you look back on your creations you will see that even your worst pieces have a profound place in educating your overall talent :)
