I Did Not Know Back Then (Who I'd Be Today)

I Did Not Know Back Then (Who I'd Be Today)

A Poem by jumbie's #1 fan
"

Wow, I've changed a lot

"

I Did Not Know Back Then (Who I’d Be Today)

I’m flipping through old photo albums of me

Trying to figure out who I used to be

A happy little girl

Dressing like a princess

Dreaming of her prince

Playing in my fairy tales

Not a care in the world

Listening to boy bands

Was a huge Aaron Carter fan

Playing pretend with my friends

Laughing and fun never end

But then I grew up

Who I am now

Is not who I was then

I know that fairy tales don’t have a happy end

A happy little girl I was

A depressed teenager I became

Positive upbeat little me

Turned into crazy, broken-hearted, sarcastic teen

Princes are overrated

Princesses are too pink

I know not to live by my heart

But instead by what I think

These old photo albums cannot be me

I’m growing up now, can’t you see?

There’s no time for dreams

Life is a lot harder than it seems

But there is one dream

I’m waiting on to be seen

The hope that one day

I will find love

But for now, I blow this wishing dust

To the One from above

A wonderful piece with witch I'm sure many can relate.

Childhood doesn't compare to adulthood, and you have shown that in a very good argumentative way.

They're stages in your life--that's all. We all go through them, looking for ourselves, trying to decide who we are and where we're going. You've done an excellent job on the poem, Jumbie's #1 Fan.
