Tragedy Rings True

How tragic it was for the poor young man

Hearing his cell phone as he bought the ring

Down the crowded streets of New York, he ran

To the little shreds of hope he would cling

Heart slows to a stop as he advances

In her apartment is where he found her

Jonathan had missed all of his chances

And he would face a lonely December

Handle the tragedy, he could not

In taking his own life, he soon would see

The lesson Jonathan was to be taught

Life with Adrienne was not meant to be

Outside the apartment, the birds will sing

Of Jonathan, Adrienne, and a ring.
