Blind Justice

Blind Justice

A Poem by Jewel Chanda
"

When poor litigants are over burdened with the byproducts of a slow sluggish justice delivery system they ultimately end up with no relief specially in the playground of riches..

"
Written in a pale piece of paper,
neglected and ignored for years
how many criss-cross it passes through
before it knocks the door!
Just about to enter, turned down
waits for another day afresh
tries to slip, tries too deep, but fails.
Ultimately learns to wait silently.
At times it cries but hammered.
All fades away till the door opens
torn, mutilated and crawls into,
stands mute when it's supposed to shout.
None applies mind into such nonsense,
finally dumped by the blinds.
When nonsense facts stand up
the confused monsters play.
For mean less poor it's tough
relief is kept at bay.
Hierarchy of masters structured well
strong & firm to ring the bell.
Wounded men groans in pain,
much hurried but missed the train.
Justice justice all the way
but relief is kept at bay.

The system is broken and no one person can fix it. A sad statement, but a reality nonetheless.

I enjoyed the personification of law in the first section as it went thru "the system". At first bold and inspired, willing to do its great deed for the people,,,and ultimately failing thru no fault of its own.

You're quite welcome!
The written law per se is blind with respect to the social standing but it is authorities who are called to apply and protect the law who know the difference and who know how to circumvent the laws. As they say, justice delayed is justice denied.

Thanks wes for your review..
Justice should be served for the rich and the poor equally. But unfortunately it does not happen that way in so many countries. Like you have said it should be blind. But in some countries it sees the cash...Bravo.................
