Haiti Screams

Haiti Screams

A Poem by Jillian Alexis

These tides wash away these secrets

and we are bare

Like the trees during winter

our true colors are visible

We are bruised

             battered

             and broken

You didnt want to listen before

and the pictures you see now, show nothing of the pain we feel

Starving for this cruel worlds acceptance

All around us these already cracked walls, they crumble

And we are no longer silent

We are a dying nation screaming,

Our only hope is that this time, you shall hear us

A great poem. I like how you portrait the view of the people of Haiti in this harsh times. you describe very well the pain and suffering they are going through. The need for help and all the fear they must have had when it happened. I like your stile of writing. thanks for sharing!

This is amazing. Words cannot describe this amazingness. Reading this poem made me feel the pain that that nation is feeling.

Great job.

Very moving tribute.. I could feel the streams of tide flowing throughout this very fierce call for hope.. and we all sit and wait.. we watch and marvel ... wondering if this very poorest country's light will have some impact where it may truly matter long term.. here in our own land and globally. With every country experiencing yearly disasters.. illness.. so many greater battles are to be won then for material gain.. IT IS the people on this earth that matter the most if we wish to evolve in a productive and meaningful manner. Your words stir for much needed attention to be paid to all... deeply moving!

A powerful and emotional piece. A nation that was already suffering now has to endure such a tragedy. It's such a horrible situation. I have a friend in the Navy who is there now doing everything she can. She was sent to a smaller island just outside of Haiti and they are suffering because Port Au Prince was their main source for food and clean water and now they have nothing. Great write.
