Three Little Birds

Three Little Birds

A Poem by JCharo
"

For my son.

"

This is my message to you

sometimes when the stress subdues

your expectations

of life and what type

of sensations

that may bring,

I was standing over

your incubator

doubting, and (at the same time),

thanking your maker

and going through

the exact same thing.

and

I assure you that

the very first song

that came to my mind

played through my spine

as if my back bone were

a groove in a record

carrying the tune to my neck.

And I hummed….

Every little thing

Is gonna be allright

And told myself,

while you may be little

in size

and though it seems simple

inside

to tell myself not to worry,

the reggae rhythms of Robert

resulted in serenity

like clockwork

and made me

not so weary

Then finally you danced

took deep breaths

expand your light

over our life,

such a lively one.

While the night

could seem bleak

enough to find your day and

defeat I rise

open my eyes and

smile at the rising sun.

I knew this would be a memorable poem. Those lines are perfection..perfection I tell you..
The entire piece is one of emotion, remembrance and joy..
truly a delight to have been asked to read this.
Well done!!!!

I have read a few of your pieces, after being astonished by the first one I stumbled across somewhere. Your words are near pitch perfect, your themes as timeless and real as the human beings you portray. Truly, I am glad to have encountered your writing. This poem perfectly outlines the mixed emotions of new fathers everywhere worried about their adequacy and how the meaning of their lives changes with parenthood. What a beautiful, life-affirming piece!

I was invited to this, and glad I am. YOur words are full of light and a certain kind of peace that I sorely needed. Thanks
