Toss of the Dice

Toss of the Dice

A Poem by Audrey Bruckner

cold skies only grant goosebumps

cold hearts only present pain

sabatoge my emotions

for reasons unnamed

feel free to search the wreckage

scattered between mind and heart

rescuing pieces

of the soul you ripped apart

blinded by sorrow

no way to see

that with every breath in my direction

you are saving me

quickly steal away

to rooftops above

breaking silence only

to whisper your love

when my chest stops heaving

bless me with breath

endowed from your sweet

enticing lips

touch me gently

warm my skin

lay me down slowly

inviting in sin

test my innocence

with genuine intentions

crave any and all of me

with no reservations

understand my heart

is with you and you alone

treasure it tenderly

as you would your own

discover in me

majestic sights

see in my eyes

starry nights

shame on you if you hurt me once

shame on me if you hurt me twice

but what is love

if not a toss of the dice
