My Fight, My Right

My Fight, My Right

A Poem by jkgreen

It’s not an easy fight

clawing and pulling

my way out of the dark.

Battles are won;

Battles are lost

in my fight to claim the light.

I push and pull,

I twist and turn,

I demand my chance to take my turn.

To free myself

from the chains that bind

I will dig through the dirt till the end of time.

So, don’t count me out

and stay out of my way

I’m climbing to my freedom a little more every day.

I’ll never stop kicking

I’ll never stop screaming

until I get to live the dream that I’m dreaming.
