TRICK OR...

TRICK OR...

A Poem by John~D

 The game is set, players are poised;

darkness descends, now the noise.

Hallowe'en has returned to us yet again,
children in the streets, trick or treat now their friend.

Long ago our story starts, a time when worship,
was with the Gods.

Celts believed, that during the winter,
their favourite sun god, would be taken prisoner.

Samhain; Lord of the Dead, Prince of Darkness,
would reign all of the madness.

He called the dead to his side;
they rose and walked with a sigh.

But the twenty-first century, is where we live and pray,
the Celt gods have now, all gone away.

Children laugh, as tricks they play,
give them a treat? Yes you may!

Games have now stopped, the night draws on,
children in bed, and so is my mom.

Now we're asleep, they come out,
not to scream and not to shout.

Something moves, in the darkness,
the shadows contain, a type of madness.

Creeping slowly they move about,
not in sight and not with sound.

Shadows move in the corner of the room,
we sleep amidst all of the gloom.

Eyes with a dullness of death glow,
now raise and stand as they show.

A person? An animal? What could it be,
now as it stands – stands over me.

It rose from the corner, the corner of my room,
filling the darkness, filling the gloom.

Reaching out it tries to touch…

this is an interesting take on the subject, the reader can do what he/she wishes with it, depending on his/her experiences and curiosities.

That is almost like a thriller movie but it ends right before the part where you get ready to jump. Enjoyed the read though.
