From getting to see the perfect smile,

To the feeling when she grasped my hand tightly,

And the kiss.

The kiss that I thought of for so long, but

One that I wish I never laid my lips on

Since that day, we’ve been separated by thousands of miles

I’d never known how such insurmountable distance makes you desire something even more

I stand here in a desert, but when I close my eyes…

I imagine the simple days when we would watch countless waves come and go

I may be so far, but I have never felt so close

In spite of the million wishes I have of wanting to be with her,

All that I want is to hold her in my arms for one last dance, much like the first night we shared
