synthetic horizons

synthetic horizons

A Poem by joshua deathdealer

Plastic sun-rays pierce through Kodak skies
and scores of perfect, swift soaring clouds.

Illuminating my pallid skin and my numb sight
for what seems like the first time in ages.

Vivid scenery greets me, all laid out in
a painstakingly familiar sense of somewhere.

This vile I've choked down is hollowing out
inside me, bringing me closer to necrosis.

Until then I will wander these synthetic horizons
brought on from imagination and hallucinogenics.

With people that walk to different tunes, selfishly
giving in more to the machine instead of life.

It's just another fake day in this empty city
so lets get wasted and forget our dilemmas.

The darkness that spills from my eyes is the
only remnant of a reality that is dying within.

Your writing is very descriptive and this helps bring out the emotion in your poem. I feel as though in the line "Illuminating my pallid skin and my numb sight for what seems like the first time in ages" there is positivity but it has been out ruled by all the negative that you are witnessing around you "With people that walk to different tunes, selfishly giving in more to the machine instead of life". Great poem!

The words of a tortured soul, lost in depression, looking for a reason to carry on. I feel moments of hope here and there, only to be dashed again and again. Great piece

Wow, I really really like this. Your descriptions, your vocabulary, the feeling in this. Very nice, enjoyed. Love the title as well... not sure which part in this I like most. It's all well written and said.

Ha-ha laughing at that comment you are a cheerful soul but, its soul that made this master piece.. Sorry its been a while seen i read any poems but, nicely done with the descriptions and the concept of a synthetic horizon as well as a synthetic life yet, your cure is to get wasted and forget these dilemmas we call life. anyways well done try to read your writings soon; deathwish seems interesting.

your a real cheerful soul aren't you?
liked the second stanza a lot.
The fourth stanza was morbidly stunning. Captured my attention.
Sixth stanza was my favourite.
Thanks.

Typo-the word you want is "vial" instead of vile.

I liked this one. Too much fake in this place. No Doubt.

This piece was amazing. I really enjoyed it. Yup that's exactly what this world is going to become. It's going to be ridiculous if humans don't shape up. Great write. Thanks for sharing. :3
