Ego Death

I am interested in the death of my ego

I am interested in opening many windows

I am interested in long nights that smell

like rain and cotton sheets

I am interested in women who go way too fast

I am interested in going way too fast as well

I am interested in the works of Bukowski

Cummings and Ginsberg

I am interested by the missing weight beside

me in this small bed

I am interested in the sugar cube, the

shape texture and taste of it

I am interested in waiting very, very

quietly for something to happen

I am interested in women who know

the heft and haft of their minds

I am not as interested in poetry as I once was,

I am interested in creating something new

I am interested in the doors of perception

and the keys that will open

I am interested in picking locks and

used to be pretty good at it

I am interested in the death of the self

and what will come next.

Whoa I can say this poem have too many themes and ideas. It's like night hallucination what come to life at morning awaking. Certainly there is some spiritual vibes and deep exploration of own thoughts. But it's hard for me to follow. But anyway it's make quiet impact on me cause it's like chaotic explosion of neurons in crater of death valley. By the way I wonder how you get in between Bukowski and Ginsberg the Great Cummings . I think that's brilliant idea.

This was kind of a first draft... just throwing out the chaotic nature of my mind in the morning lol. I like the idea of a night hallucination, because it kind of is exactly that... whatever I've been dealing with while asleep just rushes out in the morning. This might end up being a throw-away, or I might pick ideas out of it and refine them some more... dunno. Thanks for reading, I really appreciate it!

Actually at same way I writing my poetry. Just automatic flow thoughts. Which I later black out into some meaning and sometimes not. My writing can be quiet chaotic well. But anyhow I find your poems quiet refreshing here cause they are very different . I like how you mixing reality with own imagination.

Interesting. (smile) I've never thought of poetry as a personal interest. Poetry is my interpretation of things the universe gives me and I try to put them down in words. I understand what Frost meant when he said, Being a poet is a condition, not a profession. I suffer from that condition. But I revel in it on occasion as well, so, hopefully, it balances itself out in the end. I like the "creating something new". Originality and personality are precious commodities in the world of art and literature. The sacrifice of the ego sounds a bit like eastern philosophy, Buddhism or Tao. And here's to the women who go "way too fast"! This was a pleasure to read.

Thanks man. The death of the ego is very much an Eastern philosophy. It's a complicated thing I'm still trying to work out in my head. I get too caught up in the set forms of poetry... I'm trying to break out into my own style, something new, but I don't think I've found it yet, at least with poetry. I've been painting as well, and mixing the two... now that seems like something I can get into.
