Freedom

Freedom

A Poem by J Schwenk
"

Blink once and you see that life changes. Blink twice and you see that life is fleeting.

"

It happened Monday afternoon when I heard the news

It didn't really sink in until Tuesday morning

All over social media

I cried so much until I couldn't breathe anymore

I cried until it hurts to cry

I haven't cried this much since my grandfather died

I didn't expect to feel so deeply about this beautiful soul

My heart hurts

Remember this feeling when something happens over and over again

And you don’t fully grasp it because you don’t want to believe it?

It doesn’t really tug at your heartstrings until the moment it sinks in

Well, this is it

It really tugged at my heartstrings

I reflected back on time

He touched everyone's lives in a way

Whether it is big or small

He passed away from depression

I knew what that was like

I've been there

I am slowly getting out of it

They said to call for help or talk to people when you feel depressed

But it really isn't easy

It isn't until you have been in that particular situation that it isn't easy to just ask for help

The world inside you feels broken

He is a genuine soul

Was.

A beautiful, amazing, deep and insane soul

To me, he seems so real

Such a real personality

So genuine and had a deep heart

If only the world has more people like you

If only.

The next day I went to a movie store

To pick out some dvd's

When I approached the counter, I saw a film

It was Hook

I stared at the screen, at loss for words

What the world had to endure through in less than 24 hours

I didn't want to believe it

He was so good and talented in everything he did

The guy at the counter waited for me

I turned my attention away from the screen

And walked forward

In front of me

Was a man

He looked so so much like the actor

We talked for 30 minutes about the death and how great of a person he was

The man looked tearfully at me

He told me his name is William Robins.

Exact same spelling

Only backwards

It's insane

The man looked strikingly like the legend

Robins said Williams was his idol during childhood

He gave me the list of movies he recommended

Especially "Dead Poet's Society", "Good Morning, Vietnam", "Patch Adams", and finally, "Hook"

He told me "Hook" is different

It's placed in eternal childhood

Williams can play the role of any character so so well

Pure talent

I told William Robins not to ever change his name

He looked at me intently with his green eyes and said, "I won't"

The strangest thing was, I really wanted to give him a big hug and have a long chat with him over coffee or tea

There was just something about him

Perhaps it could be the resemblance between him and Robin Williams

The way he carried himself

The way he spoke

Was so much like the actor

Two customers came in the store

I introduced myself and gave him a handshake

He told me if I ever look up the live comedies and the films to let him know

I said I will

I took one last look at him

And went outside.

I cried when I got into the car

For some reason, I really could feel Robin Williams through this stranger

I believe things happen for a reason

I thank the universe for allowing to meet this person

I will always cherish this encounter

It just so happened I met Robins the next day after the legend passed away

Thank you for being a beautiful, sweet genuine soul, Robin Williams.

May you have an easy afterlife and be free from pain.

The world is crying.

Genie. You're free.

Blink three times and you shall realise that your fears are an illusion and you lock yourself in your own cage and yes d****t life is fleeting so take the gift of life and live until you cant live no more ..

a lovely sentiment of a poem ... i think Robin bought love and light to millions I do not think that he would want others to be suffering in his absence .... I believe life is ever flowing ... I believe Robin is dancing free of all shackles and sharing his own unique jokes with the eternal waves of time ... :)

A wonderful, powerful poem with lots of emotion. Really think this poem is sensational! Depression is real. It is very sad to lose people but especially when we weren't able to save them I think is the worst.

This was so moving, wonderfully written.
It really touched my heart.
:)(:
I think the message can be applied to anyone who has experienced depression.

This is awesome, one of the best tributes I've read to date, and the one I relate to the most out of all the ones I've read...I deal with depression, I know how it is, and the way you describe it here was truly moving...what more can I say, I'm close to tears upon reading this...great work my friend, this one truly spoke to me.
