Humpback

Humpback

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)

Humpback whale
You amaze oh poor old humble me
You own that wide blue sea
That our wise God has given thee
You hold it in your wild grey fin
As you rise and crash the wild waves in rough sea winds
Up comes your huge white splendour spray
And you have lived another day

Beautiful, primordial power and strength of the whale so beautifully described. Magnificent Leviathan and Moby Dick of legend, painted in words. Vivid imagery, great flow and rhyme-"As you rise and crash the wild waves in rough sea winds"..."And you have lived another day." Love this!
