catalogue girl

catalogue girl

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

writing as I go

"
catalogue girl
where is your twirl
catwalk girl
where is your picture
photograph man
where is your heart
please be kind
and take me
mould me
straighten my picture
tighten my curls
pounce my lips
gentle my hips
give me blue eyes
even though they are brown
blush where I need it
highlight my bones
lighten my load
and keep me at negatives distance
I'm catalogue girl
just a pearl in your crown
I'm catwalk girl
just a pawn in your collection
catalogue and catwalk girl
we have to make the crowds swirl

I see where you are coming from with this excellent write; but there is a subliminal side to fashion we may not be aware underlines its purpose! Henry James, born in 1841, was the first American psychologist to illuminate the notion of Fashion Psychology in both lectures and writings. The ultimate impact and value of applying psychology to fashion goes beyond what we wear. The fashion industry is an important global industry worth more than 26 billion pounds (38 billion US dollars) in the UK alone. I love your word play here and the subtle metaphorical use of the subject matter – nicely penned! :-)

All show but who are they really? The cover is all you see. Nice write

Yes- so true! But not much true about those retouched photos. They walk the catwalk with diamond dog collars around their necks. “We have to make the crowds swirl”- sold to the highest bidder! Love this!

Thanks Annette I appreciate your kind reviews x
The camera never lies. Though now and again you would think it would tell a few fibs. I always wonder, when i see people taking selfies. Do they have to keep going, till they get the perfect one.

' I'm catwalk girl - just a pawn in your collection'

Cleverly put, brief phrases, almost akin to pressing buttons, clicking shutters and the means of capturing what there isn't but will be.. when instead of the knife to neaten the mess, the mess is made for free.

You know how it goes.. or if not, have more than acute observation of the Business!

i guess beauty will always last on paper, and it is sad when we get older and feel like we have lost that beauty

air brush the beauty outside, maybe....but the inside beauty is what really counts...and that is what it is...
can't brush that away if the heart is cold.

Gee
One of the most attractive traits in a woman, for me anyway, is her being happy in her own skin. So many look at the stick thin models and wrongly think that this the norm rather than the opposite.
Thought provoking and a whole heap of truth
