Friends

Friends

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

Friends come n go

"
I’ve not always been
Alone
No
I’ve had plenty of friends
But they all leave
Take off
To new places
Live their lives
One by one
Over the years
I can count truly
Ten in twenty years
Gone
Never heard from again
Was it something I did
Or said
Or didn’t do enough of
That’s why now
You may see me alone
In a coffee shop
In a forgotten suburb
Or in the city somewhere
Looking at harbour
Don’t feel sorry for me
At least I’ve loved I’ve lived
Now I savour these moments
These quiet alone times
They are rightfully mine
Don’t pity this woman
Who goes to bed alone
And wakes up to greet her
Dog and boils up her eggs
I’m happy
This time is rightfully mine
I’ve lived laughed loved
All in my day
The latter far too much I would say

I have known many people who learn to appreciate life alone. When I was young. I liked to travel alone. Most people couldn't keep-up with me. I like my private and quiet time. I rarely get. Thank you Julie for sharing your words and your thoughts.
