‘To be or not to be ‘
He read the famous old wise words Laughing He penned ‘To Twas or not to have Twas !’ Scratching his itchy baldness He kept on penning Writing swiftly Like the agony aunt he gave advice to himself and his darling wife ‘To begin or never to start or try To finish or keep going ! To give up or try again !’ He smiled down at his paper with an admiring long glance Tea darling ? his wife entered his Retreat his sanctuary the shed down the back Beyond the veggie garden Half eaten by grubs Birds And where she sat Most days in sun Basking in their idle life Yes love ! I’d love a Cuppa and a bickie Please he added as her back turned Off she tottered He watched her through the Open wooden slats never mended He liked to see her walk up and down to him Each day Her bottom wiggled With too many Chocolate cookies Over the years He didn’t mind To be or not to be ! He mused aloud quietly Yes he exclaimed To the spider on the window That’s the mystery of life As we know it ! His itchy scalp gave way To red welts He left his Little sanctuary His writing book shed And Joined her In the sun Basking in his words Of wisdom He laughed Hysterically She understood perfectly He was on a roll today She would go in and bake all day Maybe scones for afternoon tea They lived happily ever after Her cooking His writing A blissful life © 2023 Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)Reviews
