Hezekiah

Hezekiah

A Poem by Silburwolf

A wondrous storeroom and castle of riches I had
All of these things though and I was still sad
What was I missing?
Should not a man be glad?

The good Lord approached me one day
With news of strangers from far away
I did not know what to say
For my tongue was tied that very day

Soon what was said came to pass.
These strangers traveled over desert's pass.
They knocked and I invited them in
I showed them all the treasures that appeal to men.

Gold, silver, bronze, and more did I have through my castle door.
I hid nothing from their sight for was far from poor.
I bid them farewell as they traveled out the door.
Leaving back towards my chambers across the red velvet carpet floor.

Then once again the Lord sought communication with me.
For the news he would bring would bring the average king to his knees.
He inquired as to the strangers from afar.
He asked what did I show them and I answered everything near and far.

Then he bid me news of their return for the tide would turn.
Everything I once had would be gone in a flash.
The visitors would take all for the cash and leave nothing the away dash.
This news though did not make me sad.

For I have seen the very face and found favor with God.
When I became ill he loved me as time stood still.
I struggled as I tossed and turn.
But for my loyalty he healed me and extended my life twas not my turn.

This is the story of Hezekiah and the story to which I pray you learn.
