On My Own

Poem

The emotions have calmed
I'm getting used to being alone
Somehow I've made it this far
I've made it on my own

But my tears continue to flow
And my heart continues to ache
With every thought that I think
I feel my heart break

There is no amount of time
That could ever take this pain away
No amount of sun
To change this color from grey

Everything has changed
But I'm still standing here
You're passing me by
As I drown in tears

I don't want to be forgotten
I don't want to be left behind
I don't want to be only a memory
That occasionally enters your mind

It is hard on my own
Yet somehow I'll make it through
I will make it out of this
Somehow I always do.
