The Definition of a Human

The Definition of a Human

A Poem by Kaseda
"

What is it?

"
What is a Human?
Scientifically, a homo sapien.
Historically, the species that has dominated all others.
Psychologically, a sentient being that is self aware and has emotions.

But none of those matter.
What matters is the personal definition.
What matters is what I think about people.
What matters to define you is me.

Because if nothing else can server to define humans,
Then you have to rely on your emotions.
Leave your logic alone and get rid of it,
Because they don't matter anymore.

When people have lied to you,
When people have deteriorated you,
When people have destroyed you,
When all you've done is nothing,

Then you have to abandon logic for emotion.

Because you're going to get sad,
And you're going to get angry,
And you're going to get scared,
When all you ever expected was to be happy.

People are naturally mean.
You realize this at the same time
That realize that you call the people you hate your friends,
Because there is nobody better.

So what is a human then?
I don't know.
Because you have to define them with your own emotion,
But that's already been completely destroyed.

I've learnt that in order to cope
With the people I hate,
I have to abandon emotion,
And use logic.

But then I can't abandon logic
In order to use emotion.
It was difficult,
But I had to make a choice.

I could choose to use logic to keep emotionally strong,
Or use emotion to be able to understand everything better.
I don't know what led me to this choice,
But who would be able to tell?
