If you loved me like I love you

If you loved me like I love you

A Poem by Katie

You would embrace my flaws and call them perfection
You would inhale me until your lungs burn-- just because you love the high
You would drink me to forget all the bad in the world
You would crave the way I soothe your stress
You would view me as a way of life

You wouldn’t ask of me what I can’t give you
You wouldn’t breathe me in and then cough me out like the cigarettes you say burn your throat
You wouldn’t drink me to impress your friends but throw me up in the morning when you regret me
You wouldn’t chew me up and spit me out like the tobacco you don’t even like
You wouldn’t view me as an addiction.

What a powerful, moving glimpse of love... the metaphors incite the mind and heart into knowing what brings you joy.. and what rips you apart in days and nights of loving...

thank you :)
So true. love is always selfless. it never asks nor demands. A person who truly loves you would never asl you to change especially for his sake. Well expressed Katie :)
