Leftover Fish

Leftover Fish

A Poem by Katherine Cabrera

Leftover fish

Leftover fish, and this can of corn and beets, bring me bliss,

Sushi sounds nice,

A night out in the city drowned by lights,

The tart corn and sweet beets are as pleasing.

The white walls, sunny window shades, soothing fan reminiscent of wind; my harmony,

The world seems to differ.

The cars are out of their parking spots,

The trains are moving non-stop,

A night out moving swiftly through the city sounds lovely.

The overcooked fish, seems to bring contentment,

I could be anywhere,

But gratitude exists in this place; I dare not move.
