Love

Love

A Poem by Mortimer Brewster

Why is my love for you so strong
Is it your smile your laugh or your voice
Whichever I might pick I know it can’t be wrong
When I see your face I know I made the right choice
My heart flutters when I think of you
Never waning always getting stronger is my feeling
Your name has been etched into my soul like a tattoo
As damaged as I was you have given me meaning for healing
So why is my love for you so deep
Is it your body your skin your touch
It could be any of the reasons I want to keep
I want to be around you and hold you so much
To have you laying beside me feels like a dream
All of these points are something when your away that I miss
But does it explain the love in my heart sowed in a seam
To answer why my love for you is so great
It’s plain as day as simple as addition as easy as ABC
The reason is the strength of your love its first rate
And you poured your entire being to us and I want to make you happy
So now I place all my love and trust in your hands
In return I get what I can only describe as sublime
From the driest deserts to the wettest marshlands
Our love will be another story for all time
