Betrayed

Betrayed

A Poem by Mortimer Brewster
"

true story. had to get it off my chest

"

You told me you loved me

You said it was forever

It seems you lied to me

Because you said I could never

Be able to get rid of you

I would be stuck with you for the rest of my life

But now I feel the unbearable pain

In my soul from the knife

You plunged and twisted

Vows broken promises shattered

Dreams stomped and crushed

My happy life is destroyed and tattered

You left me in my time of need

And don’t feel you did anything reprehensible

But your actions speak for them self

And they are not defensible

You are now pregnant with another mans child

While we are still supposed to be married

But now I see you for who truly are

And our marriage is dead and buried

You try to talk to me like your still my best friend

When I don’t respond you want to get mad

I am the one who should be upset

I’m the one sitting on a pressure pad

Of emotions ready to explode

And as I still haven’t gotten over the two miscarriage

And told me you didn’t want to try again

I see your words were meant to disparage

You destroyed a twelve year relationship so easily

And I finally see I am better off without you

I am free of your judgmental family

And the ridiculous life lessons they spew

So I will finally be released

From my mental prison and emerge

Bigger better stronger smarter

From you poison that I will purge
