cruel reflections

cruel reflections

A Poem by Kelsey Rogers
"

/another/ excerpt from an old file i discovered of poems from when i was trying to find a character voice. enjoy

"

I’m not sure what I’m fueled with more

Rage or fear

She’s no longer a voice in my head

She’s standing right in front of me in the mirror

Right where my reflection would be

And she’s beautiful all right,

In every cruel way possible.

That’s one of the reasons why I hate her.

The other being that I know every single word she utters

Is absolutely true

You're welcome. :)
I find rage and fear very difficult to decipher sometimes; anger can quickly turn into anxiety and vice versa. I enjoyed the layout of this poem and it packs a punch without being long. It's interesting how you say the reflection is 'beautiful' in 'every cruel possible way' as if taunting you, I interpreted it to be your subconscious and the beauty in truth and honesty you may sometimes ignore. I'm rambling, apologies if i'm completely off the point, haha! Lovely poem!!
Ellen.

oh, the inner struggle unravels in the mirror... she finally sees and hears the truth but doesn't know if it is best to fear it or be angry because either way she has to face the music... though it makes one wonder why being beautiful makes it so difficult on her... nicely done, Kelsey
