#metoo

A Poem by Kate English
"

It's a rondeau about how the justice system favors men especially in rape cases.

"

#MeToo

He’s free” you say?

But he abused me, mentally, sexually and physically for months day after day.

I have scars all over, invisible and not,

Belting, punching, restraining, and then my virtue he got.

Yet thanks to our “justice” system he got away.

“It doesn’t count, he wasn’t fourteen until May.”

What crap! I cried for years from trauma; his “rough” play.

I hate that it was his story the jury bought.

“He’s free”

Hopefully soon there will come a day,

When victims like me get their way.

We will rise and be proud of how we fought,

With all the abuse finally caught

And never again will we hear someone say:

“He’s free”
