Forgotten promises

Forgotten promises

A Poem by kevluvtory
"

Many years ago a spirit died...

"
Who was it that sat on the grassy knoll?
In the sunshine beyond the fringe.
Who was it that said we shall bring you hope,
We shall continue to build that bridge.

How fast things do change when reality spikes,
As the movement for change gathers pace,
How odd to blame one section of life,
When we’re all the same human race.

Alive with the feeling of genuine change
Freedom from oppression and hate
How sad that with hindsight we all of us see,
One outcome, which truly was fate.

We all of us sat on that grassy knoll!
Letting others control what we do!
If oppression and hate are still prevalent,
It is down to both me and to you.

For every freedom we must fight to survive,
For every injustice we must keep hope alive,
For every child we must ultimately strive,
To ensure his death was not in vain.
