are we really free?

are we really free?

A Poem by khalid
"

just an opinion of freedom

"

My friend and I, went down the street, to walk

And during our walk, we had some talk

He told me how much people became, free

I asked him, free? Really? Are we?

What is your proof? Tell me?

Look at that needy over there, begging a millionaire

And the millionaire, proudly opening his car door

Then throws a coin to the needy on the floor

If we are really free, would that needy choose to be

As he?

If we are really free, no sad people would there be

You can't recognize to whom you are a slave?

We are slaves for god, for fate

We are slaves for divine force

We are slaves for traditions and customs

we are slaves for our feelings and needs

We are slaves for nature and its disasters

And to that endless number of masters,

We are slaves!

Were you even free to pick your name?

Could you choose where or when to get born?

Could you choose your race and color?

Could you choose your father or your mother?

Could we even choose to be here right now?

If you are really free, would you have chosen to be,

Now with me?

Hmmm...you brought up very interesting topics here. Things that I would have to disagree on. lol. I don't see ourselves as slaves to earth. Though you raise up questions that could counter what i could defend. lol... but.. hmm.. I think freedom in my opinion is about choices.. It is true that not many people have freedom depending where they are in the world. But slowly, things are changing. And hmm..being able to choose where we are born would be pretty sweet but yes sadly we do not have that choice. Nor as our race, or family. But I think that's different. To choose things like those... it would be more of a utopia world? I would think. Hmm i don't know about being slaves to fate or Gods/Goddess... but they are there for belief. One can choose not to believe in them nor worship them. But society is tricky... if there are no rules to govern, there will be more chaos in the world.. i would believe. Not everyone would simply agree with someone else. How thought-proking this poem is! Great write! You made me think a lot.... fascinating.. Love this!!! =D
Hmmm... I like how you expressed frustration through your questions as it feels as if we are just pawns in a chess game..
Brilliant write! ^-^
