In the fire

In the fire

A Poem by AKhaus

I'm in the fire but I can still feel your heart and its cold.
I don't come running around here just to tell you how much I need you.
The echoes in your soul call me, beckoning me to take hold.
I keep running from the thunder rolling down that hill ready to eat me alive.
I'm in the fire but I can still hear your whispers and all that you fear.
I don't keep coming here because I have free will, I come because you call to me in the darkest moments.
The voices creeping into my room from that broken window, telling me what needs to be told.
I keep hiding from the vultures circling in the night ready to take my living bones.
I'm in the fire but will burn just to stay by your side.
I don't come here for my soul, I return because the binding is so tightly woven into all that I am.
The cries soaring so high only searching for their home.
