The Fire

The Fire

A Poem by AKhaus

I lost so much in that fire.
My feet are scorched and I can't believe I burned it all down.
No love could survive that inferno.
I tore down the castle with one burst of pain and fury.
Oh lord, I didn't see that storm coming...
Nothing left but the skeletons of what seemed to be before the hurricane.
I lost so much in that fire.
My heart empty and I can't seem to find the reason for it all.
No meaning other than the mechanics of this artful display of vacancy.
I keep running into this wall and the sting never seems to leave me
I guess I wanted to think you would bring something more than this numbing shadow of complacency.
Even in the flames, the heat of destruction nothing seems to bleed nothing.
