Rot

Rot

A Poem by AKhaus

Sometimes I want to wane in death’s gloom only to remember there is peace after you.
It’s not the salt of the earth which stings me but the fine edges of your tongue which brings me to this pain.
Even the ground is quiet when the sound of those feet graze it with hollow heels.
Nothing good remains in that rot which you cleverly guised as care.
Only a trapping for those who lost sight out of another and in emotional despair did your spider venture from her den to poison and feed.
Be gone from me forever you loathe some thing, for I need to close my eyes forever knowing I escaped your web.

I'm often drawn to the metaphors of vipers and spiders to describe Heartbreakers. For their affairs are poisonous indeed. Leaving behind infectious wounds that never quite truly heal...do they? A strong piece of poetry AK, thank you for sharing.
