lost

lost

A Poem by AKhaus

When I met you, I lost you.
When I had yet to meet you, I truly knew you.
It is in your absence that your truth, your true self may exist.

The flesh can make knowing strange and the silence strengthens the reason for this pain.
I wish to never know you so I can be with you again.

When I lost you, I met you and then I felt who you were without the masks that strangle your voice.
When I grieve you, I see your ghost which contains within her more soul than that skin you carry.

How cruel this play, a constant change of characters.

Please disappear so I can feel you in the unknowing.
Please fade into the dark and shapeless time to allow me into your hidden veil.
Please remember I knew you before I met you.
I lost you when we set eyes and I loved you before you crafted this disguise.
The only love that remains is in the unknowing and when we can be blind.

How cruel this play, a constant betrayal of the senses.

This poem speaks with a knowledge of love so profoundly relatable. It strips away the illusions to reveal only the truth that some conceal about themselves. And the forlorn it leaves in one that truly cares for them. A strong piece of writing AK.
