Who am i?!

Who am i?!

A Poem by kimberli Leacock
"

I wrote this poem when i was 17... i think it appeals to everyone, it relates to the finding of ones self.

"
Who am i?
Am i what you make me?
A character in a play;
an extra in a movie;
a passer by walking endlessly down an endless path?
Silently, slowly, still;
like a moonlit river.
Shadowed, hidden from all;
only a spotlight that flows with the current of destiny.
Who am i?
A slave to myself,
working hard to achieve me;
til i am complete.
For now i see only a work in progress,
its only the beginning.
The beginning.
The beginning of what?
If you follow not one path but many,
are you not always at the beginning?
Who am i?
What am i fighting for?
Freedom has been won,
yet i find myself enclosed in a box smaller than i.
Trapped, suffering;
shrinking into my depression.
Who am i?
Am i a strong black woman?
Independant i stand,
a woman of myself,
idle to no one.
Who am i?
Am i the gossip on the streets?
The rumours of the world?
or just a tale in a childrens book?
Who am i?
I am i.

excellent really enjoyed I often ask myself the same thing. A character in a play an extra in a movie really speaks to you make you think about the bigger picture in life
