Lonely Road

Lonely Road

A Poem by kimberli Leacock

Walking beside an army...
Yet I am the only soldier.
Armored to battle against my enemies;
Oblivious to the attacks from my friends.
Marching towards an invisible destination;
Blind to the road ahead.
Standing in a crowded space...
Yet I stand alone.
Head held high.
No one can define me,
For I am my own definition.
This world is an abomination,
Where its only obligation
Is to become its own destruction.
But I will not self destruct.
I am my own army on this lonely road of life.
I am the shield;
The helmet;
The suit;
Designed to suit me.
This lonely road won't leave me lonely.
