The Letter.

The Letter.

A Story by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A letter to my younger self.

"
Dear Thomas,
One thinks highly of one's self at the younger ages, so much endless possibilities, minutes last hours, days last a hundred years. You my dear boy are no different, you are the center of you earth and commander of your own destiny. Thats the way a young child should be, the world is you oyster and everyones doorstep is your own to thread on.
I merely have one thing to say to you, I am sorry. Sorry for expecting so much of, for driving you to do the things that many of the times you didn't want to. Sorry for always expecting you to excel at everything, for expecting you to be top of your game, a straight A student and for always leaving having you build a guard against even the friendliest of people.
Mostly, my sweet innocent child, sorry for not giving you the courage to stand up to those that did you wrong. I'm sorry for never alloying you to be brave and tell others you weakness, maybe you would have been helped and not turned into that angry and overly confident teenager.
Lastly always remember to be good to yourself, be vigilant when trusting others and lean on your friends a little more, remember you cant always be their rock,
Goodbye for now my dear boy, I'll see you in a few years.

Wow, very, and deeply introspective. I did one for myself too a time ago. It's very thoughtful and paining to write things like these. To put your full feelings and thoughts into each sentence. To look at your mistakes and actually admit it. Very nice job, you've really spoken to yourself and everyone. Great job. :)

It certainly does hit a chord when you reflect back on regrets and memories. Excellent piece.

Wow, a very introvert piece here!
I found the dialog to be stuck in the middle of self provacation and self deprivation.
A very good mix in a very good piece

Well, I'm relieved! Reading this and the comments some others have left, I have come to realize I'm not the only nutter who writes letters to themselves! This was poignant, and full of deep introspection. A touching piece of writing, but a gentle reminder to yourself to take along in the future as well. Nice work T!

I love the way you've written this. Everyone looks back at some point in their lives and they regret things, but the way you've managed to put those regrets into words is brilliant.

To look at the past can be tricky. I have learn to be kinder and say no negative words. Life is a constant lesson. A wise person is always learning. I like the way you wrote the poem. Almost like a reminder. A outstanding poem.

Looking back and being full of regrets for being so hard on oneself and not standing up for what you believed in. All one can do is go forward with our head held high and ensure that we have learned lessons to utilize in the path that lies ahead. Excellent Thomas. You may want to make some of the you's into your. :)
