Tears,

Tears,

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A look at what people are capable of doing to each other.

"

Tears stain cloth like glasses of colour and light,

I look towards the past, trying to hold onto any of you,

The smallest part I yearn for, I need it, please,

Gone now, forever I hate the days that are true.

The build of something maddening and fierce,

Emotions ride high because of sex and ignorance,

Idiots toll in information with no foundation,

As if you know anything that could make a difference.

Hate and love and desire plus vengeance we really were,

Tides of hurt left palm prints on my face to scar,

We painted nights with red and black and money,

Yet never left each other’s side like dirt to tar.

Bravery is lost to me now, as if I never had it,

Beginnings are horrid affairs that leave with fears,

Time heals no wounds, not the mind at least for us,

Stained cloth like glasses of colour and light have tears.

Jeebus Tom! You damn near made me cry. This thing feels like those times when the jilted heart can't tell if it's ended, ending or dead and stinking. Those times when worry and pain wear that gaping hole into the inside of the belly, and, it seems that b*****d pit is there to stay. Oooof! I know it all too well.

This is a solid poem.
Helps us remember that roses have thorns,
and sometimes that pretty white rabbit we're following
is headed for the deepest and deadliest briar in the patch.

I felt it.

wow. This was amazing. So full of emotions. And yes, pain can be brutal when people can be so hurtful to each other. I love your poem! Beautiful work. Nicely done. Nice message.

Beautiful in it's darkness. Your right, people are very capable of destroying others as you have captured perfectly here.
Standing on the jagged pedistal
of fear and pain and pride
Waiting
Waiting
Waiting for what
I have no idea.
Maybe healing
Maybe peace
Maybe a light
To lead me through the cold dark night
But I never find it
Will I ever?

Oouch....I've had people come and go in my life that left me feeling exactly this way! And time...it only turns wounds into scars...and you know what...scars hurt too...

I have always liked the honesty in your words love...that which shimmers is not always without flaws, real and honest, passionate and wrenching...tragedy in a reel of haunting images!
