Slain

Slain

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A hat tip to those that feel above us.

"

Pasted wounds swell and give way to thoughts kept secret,

Laying hands on those not innocent nor evil will be,

A time to know one's self and know what time can do,

A feeling ever masks the eyes and sets nothing but lust free.

Devils taunt me and leave nothing for me to feed upon,

Practise makes perfect so flesh must heal to scar and seed,

Farewell to those demons that laugh now behind crosses,

Minors stand crying for mothers that must now go home in reeds.

Bleak times, bleak hopes and even bleak house now time has slain,

Fierce faked mouths exspell lieas and truths as if there are,

Same things and never truly cage ears that will not listen,

I'm the same as you I hear all the time, one is on par.

Idiots and fools and bankers have much in common and fists,

A man lays down with filth as he sees it may be only be a,

Way to clumber onto riches and gold to adorn his ego,

Take heed to the warning of thousands now gone and away.

Why is it that obscure writing ever becomes the heir apparent to the most exquisitely sharpened contrasts? Rhetorically, I suggest it is because of the talent for walking in ever larger circles of perspicuity. He can do no wrong that writes riddles for idiots. But, there is a warm place in our hearts for all fools that warm themselves by setting their clothes ablaze and at the last moment dousing the danger with the tankard of ale remaining in their other hand; before it can more fully illuminate that dire situation.

This was so exceptional and heartfelt. "Farewell to those demons that laugh now behind crosses", this says a lot and I would agree whole heartily with this line. Some people think to highly of themselves or their religion. And that last stanza was so meaningful.

I loved this. So well done.

A nice jab at the subject without overpowering it with personal angst. Nice job!

I like the way you write. It confounds me at first read, but I always find the entwined messages through closer observation.

Hard to find the honesty in some things these days... you however, have an honesty to your writings! Often times sharp, but well worth the read.

You took on a problem that's above a common man with a point of view that I agree with. I enjoyed reading it. Your poem has truth in it, which i love the most.
