Lost in Death

Lost in Death

A Poem by Jenny Perez

Memories from picture,
A face that's now so strange,
A voice long forgotten with time.
Lessons taught handed down,
A broken heart unhealed.
A body broken now made whole.
In memories you fade.
In the heart you live.
A body burned, now a decoration.
No life from the ashes, no phoenix to rise.
Time now thy only friend and foe.
Like the hands of a clock,
Life ticks away, so soon to fade.
Like pictures of old, time frozen.
I will love you forever.
But only in memory, not the body.
Good-byes may not be forever
But to me they are eternal.
