Gravedigger

Gravedigger

A Poem by Olive Belikov
"

i got the idea of this from a song called Gravedigger

"

Gravedigger

when you dig my grave

could you make it shallow

so that i can feel the rain?

ashes to ashes

we all fall down.

we all crumple

to the ground.

it don’t have to be deep,

just a small little leap.

You only need a shovel,

gravedigger,

no need to strain a muscle.

Make it shallow

so that i can feel the rain,

the earth at my fingers

I will feel no pain.

Dig my grave

in a ring of roses.

Fill my pockets

with metal poses.

I wont move

if you dig it right,

That i promise to prove.

This is amazing. I love the idea, concept, word usage, and the references to "ring around the Rosie"

I really love this poem. I love the idea of a request like that. Wanting to feel the rain as a dead man. The imagery it invokes make the poem come alive (har har) and I think that is the earmark of pure poetry. Great piece.
