An Incandescent Love

An Incandescent Love

A Poem by Olive Belikov

Georgia, sweet Georgia,

you are my dazzling fatality.

Your sweet seduction lies within

the world’s impartiality.

Networks of entangled strings

eclipse the universe you’ve crowned.

Georgia, incandescent Georgia,

you are the reason I am not found.

Harrowed paths with twisted leads

bring us ‘round to a perfect constellation;

you are my only love,

my only true temptation.

In our time, strings were wrenched,

to say, the strings were snared,

but Georgia never once bowed down,

Georgia never anxiously declared

a truce among the cosmos,

or a break within the stars.

Georgia kept by my evanescent side.

Georgia broke away my bars.

A trumpeteer's strong and resonating cry to his love. Reminds me of traditional courtship when women were revered.

Love can be dangerous, Emotions, lust, all this tied together into a strong knot.

You are my only love
My only true temptation
Great lines! Loved the flow and descriptive tones that leave this to a wider interpretation of who/what Georgia refers to in the poem. Well done.

I love how Georgia is open to interpretation! Clever! I couldn't decide if Georgia was a state or a person. Very, very nice, loved the atmosphere in these words. Great job.

Not bad. I like how you're very non-specific about the actual identity of Georgia - it's not entirely clear whether you're talking about a person, the state, or the country. Good use of imagery and this is, I think, just the right length for this sort of poem. Good work.
