Moon Shadows

Moon Shadows

A Poem by Kerri Maniscalco

The moon slow to rise
Casting shadows along
Your very best disguise

Walking around town again
Kicking at the dirt
Heart heavy caving in

Shadows dancing to and fro
Weary soldiers walking
Into the night they slowly go

Remember the light on your skin
The smile on your face
When you knew I’d give in

The moon is slow to rise
Casting shadows along
My ever lasting disguise

The moon is full
And my cup is halved
The nightmare in my mind
Your never coming back

Heavy sun won’t rise again
Eternal dark as I walk
Giving way to original sin

Shadows dancing to and fro
Weary soldiers walking
Into the night they slowly go

The moon is slow to rise
Casting shadows along
An ever lasting disguise
