A Poem by knightcall

I must have gotten lost
my broken bones protected my heart
the doctors talked about
removing a rib to
free my enlarged heart
the reason for this condition
you told me today
you were raped at thirteen
and all the fences
you tried to avoid along the way
who could blame you
you were trying to
protect everyone else
and i want to cradle you
but i'm not sure how
why should I be
worried about my heart
the simplest answer is
what i learn of your experience lives there
forever longing to protect yours
forever lost in your future
and how you got there

Wow, this was very wonderful to read. The first stanza had me hooked and then I find out about being raped at the age of 13. A tender poem when you wish to cradle the person.

There is a depth of experience behind this poem which shows through
in your writing. a true word picture worth far more than the words it contains.

wow, I can relate to pieces of this poem and just how both sides feel once aware. The trust is the scariest part as walls that go up become almost unbreakable. Nicely penned.

How very appropriate for a true knight. Well penned. Keep up the awesome work.
