![]() family historyA Poem by knightcallI. nothing can hurt you like blood or some semblance of relationship i've got a family that passes down criticism and it winds up landing on me my brother the drama king takes my mother along for the ride the holiest of rituals of water and entrance he wanted to bar me from the cathedral door the day of the baptism i sat in a restaurant calling my mom telling her when we would meet up she went into a rage and trying to calm her down i attracted the attention of some punk eating with his daddy the smirk across his face i wanted to put him through the linoleum wall outside the church my brother shook my hand as if he was the bigger man i had no need to remind myself my brother with the baby had no problem at all with me attending so i went to the party and my sister-in-law took my picture with my nephew her sister hugged me despite meeting me hours before that's the way it should be II. the news was relayed to me the house was not as clean as it should add that to the tossed telegram that i don't own up to what i do tell me why you only know debits and forget the credits tell me why once upon a time you used to brag about me now you send your bombs via courier when we buried your husband i stood up and eulogized him i took care of your daughter sent you newspapers intended to make you laugh but now i'm the guy not good enough to help you carry in your bags tell me when i went from gold to dust III. i'm not looking for love but if it comes to me
