A Poem by knightcall

255 miles east
that all it takes for a bump of fate
i know the road to Chicago
and all stops between

it's much too early to
stop in Cameron
maybe i could take a slight detour from
the Amana Colonies
break out of the usual
slow down the rush
in the name of discovery

i once thought i
would have to
spend the night outside in Rock Island
my ride never picked me up
but i know
you never would do that

getting closer to my childhood
stop in Moline for
a drink for myself and my wheels
and i turn around
heading for the spot marked
255 miles east

These places just don't mean anything to me, but I enjoyed the slow ride through magical words .. like the ring of this, ' getting closer to my childhood ' - there's a tale behind that sentence.

Wow what I wouldn't give to be on a road trip right now instead of this hot, sticky climate in Louisiana with triple digits. Great right Sir Knight. Keep on penning.
